a5c7b9f00b A woman fights to protect her family during a home invasion. Heard little about this film, but seen a quick trailer which was interesting enough that I had to give it a watch.

But even before watching it, I found the film was somewhat distorted & random, in other words, it seemed a bit "out there". Not too sure how to explain it, but it just appeared weak & bland & simply not very exciting, but I gave it a watch anyhow. There was no major actors in the film & I think that might've been the main issue along with the advertising which itself was on the weak & dull side.

Well after watching I found it to confirm my previous feelings upon watching. Though there were some good things going on, I really found the film to be bland & boring for the most part, not to mention pointless, random & "out there".

The story-line was simple & that's not bad, in fact I like films with simple story-lines, but they have to be more beefed up in order to justify themselves & this film didn't do that sadly. I was expecting more of a bigger twist & more to it than just robbers breaking into a house to steal money, it's too simple & not very exciting! In this day & age there needs to be a little more to stories like this, not that I wanted it to be too complex, but just be a bit more complex so it's exciting.

The action was ok, restrained & un-realistic, but ok. Although the violence alone didn't justify the films age rating either which was a 15+! When the housing agent get's her throat slit & the assassin drags her body into the house the victim seems to be VERY clean considering she had her throat sliced open! There's should've been blood everywhere & a puddle should've emerged on the floor at that point, but it didn't! What's the point of making this a 15+ if they're not going to take advantage of it? Hell, even the dialogue seemed restrained!

The films story-line was about robbers breaking in & stealing tons of £££ from a house the mothers father once owned, the house is like a G.I Joe type of place with alarms, cameras, sensors & all the bells & whistles a house over killed on security could have! Which leads me to a plot hole in the film I noticed which was this: The robbers say the homes alarm is set to go off & alert the police in 90 minutes! Yet the time framing in the film & all the poncing around these burglars did suggested they took longer than 1hr & 30mins! The alarm conveniently went off at the end!

The film overall didn't have the kicking edge that thrillers do & the deaths & action seemed boring & weak! The film itself seemed random & pointless as it didn't have that outstanding unique feel to it! The plot was too thin & simple & there wasn't any twists or turns! Parts of the film happened to quick & easily at some points & others seemed to drag on! It was badly proportioned & thought out!

But it was ok, though I have seen far better thrillers like this. 4/10 Even though this movie was predictable, because there are a million movies with the story line of a desperate mother willing to go great lengths for her children, I really liked it. It had a lot of action throughout the entire movie. So it kept my attention! The full force of Union’s performance pushes the film to occasional crowd-pleasing results — give this woman a real action role, and fast — and Shaun’s ability to fight back is the one reliable element of an uneven film.
